Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media regarding its involvement in suppressing an anti-discrimination student movement. In a statement released on BGB's verified Facebook page on Saturday, November 30, the organization clarified that the claims are baseless and fabricated.

The allegations include accusations against BGB’s Director General (DG), Major General Ashraf, asserting that BGB orchestrated killings during the movement and deployed individuals disguised as Indian citizens wearing BGB uniforms. Additionally, false narratives about conspiracies to retain political power and murder students have also been propagated.

BGB's clarification highlighted the following:

  • The DG never issued directives targeting students or civilians during the movement.
  • Claims of Indian nationals wearing BGB uniforms to suppress protests are entirely false.
  • Allegations of discussions on orchestrating mass killings or political conspiracies on August 5 involving the DG and the Home Minister are untrue.
  • Disciplinary actions have been taken against any BGB personnel who exhibited unprofessional behavior.

The statement identified the source of misinformation as a vested group attempting to tarnish the reputation of BGB and its leadership through deliberate propaganda. The public has been urged to refrain from believing unverified claims and to rely on factual information.

BGB emphasized its commitment to serving the nation responsibly and assured citizens of its continued dedication to upholding its duties.
